From organized sports leagues to outdoor recreation, Walkerton Parks offers activities for every age and interest.
Youth Sports
Baseball & Softball Leagues
The Walkerton Junior League (WJL) offers Baseball and Softball on 4 beautifully groomed fields at Scarbrough Park, complete with a concession stand and bathrooms. Baseball divisions include T-Ball, Transition, Minors, and Majors. Softball divisions include Minors and Majors.
Soccer Leagues
Spring and Fall youth soccer leagues at the Soccer Plex (308 Maine Street). The Plex features a U6 Field, U8 Field, and U12/U15 Field, along with picnic tables, a concession stand, and parking.
Beach Volleyball
Sand volleyball courts at Scarbrough Park for community use. A great recreational opportunity for players of all skill levels to enjoy the outdoors.
Kyokushinkai Karate School
Martial arts instruction through the parks department. This program provides training for community members looking to learn karate and develop discipline and fitness.
Outdoor Recreation
Splash Pad
Over 10 water features at Scarbrough Park, connected to the playground. Open daily May 15 through October 15, 11 AM to 8 PM.
Playgrounds
Two playgrounds: Scarbrough Playground (slides, play structure, benches, swings, teeter totters) and Place Park Playground (slides, swings, monkey bars, glider, merry-go-round, basketball court).
Walking Trails
Approximately 2-mile paved walking trail starting at Scarbrough Park, looping behind Walkerton United Methodist Church and around Walkerton Elementary School. Great for walks and dog walking.
Tucker Trails (Hiking)
Located at the back of Scarbrough Park, these trails wind through vast woods creating a wonderful place to hike and enjoy nature. Dedicated in 2019 to former Park Superintendent Vicki Tucker.
Sledding Hills
Two hills for winter fun: Scarbrough Park Sledding Hill (behind Softball Field 1) and Place Park Sledding Hill (where the park bowls to lower ground).
Beach Volleyball Courts
Sand volleyball courts at Scarbrough Park, open to the community for recreational play at all skill levels.
Education & Certifications
DNR Hunter Education Class
The Walkerton Parks Department hosts DNR Hunter Education Classes for community members. These classes provide the training and certification needed for hunting in Indiana.

Park Rentals
Walkerton Parks offers rental facilities including pavilions and picnic areas at Scarbrough Park and other locations. These spaces are ideal for family gatherings, picnics, and special events.
